Boback to Serve on Four House Committees

Rep. Karen Boback (R-Columbia/Luzerne/Wyoming) today announced her appointment for the 2011-12 session to four legislative House committees, including the Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness, Agriculture and Rural Affairs, Tourism and Recreational Development, and Gaming Oversight committees.

“I am looking forward to continuing to work on issues impacting veterans and Pennsylvania’s volunteer fire and EMS services,” said Boback.  “I also will continue to serve on the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, which is an important committee for the 117th District.”

The Veterans Affairs and Emergency Preparedness Committee examines legislation regarding homeland security, emergency response, volunteer fire and EMS programs, nuclear power plant safety, veterans’ issues, Civil Air Patrol matters and issues related to the Pennsylvania National Guard.  The Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee oversees legislation pertaining to food safety, farmland preservation, economic development in rural areas and domestic animals.

I am excited to serve on both the Tourism and Recreational Development and Agriculture and Rural Affairs committees because these committees impact our state’s two largest industries – agriculture and tourism – and my goal is to promote economic development in my district,” said Boback.  “I am also looking forward to serving on the Gaming Oversight Committee to ensure that this money is being used appropriately.  I am very interested in gaining additional gaming revenues to help the Commonwealth’s property taxpayers."
