Boback and Baker Announce Grant for Harveys Lake Stormwater Project
HARRISBURG – Rep. Karen Boback (R-Columbia/Luzerne/Wyoming) and Sen. Lisa Baker (R-Luzerne) today announced more than $150,000 in grant funding for the Harveys Lake Stormwater System in Luzerne County.

“Harveys Lake is a natural treasure not only for Luzerne County, but also for the Commonwealth,” Boback said. “This is an ongoing project designed to maintain this pristine lake for future generations.”

The grant is among a total of more than $20 million announced today by the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP). The project in Harveys Lake is part of the DEP’s Growing Greener program, which invests in projects to protect watersheds impacted by pollution or projects that lead to restoration of water quality in a particular area. In particular, this grant will be used to reduce pollutants entering the lake, in order to further improve its water quality.

“I applaud Borough officials for their commitment to protecting this tremendous resource,” Baker said. “By targeting stormwater runoff, we can reduce the level of pollutants entering Pennsylvania’s largest natural lake and greatly improve water quality.”
