2/23/2016
Lackawanna County Sheriff Mark McAndrew and Lackawanna County District Attorney Shane Scanlon will serve as program presenters at Rep. Karen Boback’s April 7 Concealed Carry event at the Dalton Fire Company. For more information and to register, visit RepBoback.com.
HARRISBURG – Rep. Karen Boback (R-Lackawanna/Luzerne/Wyoming) has announced several Concealed Carry Seminars open to residents of the 117th Legislative District. The events are designed to inform citizens about the various intricacies of our state’s firearm laws. The presentation will include discussion of the Castle Doctrine law (Act 10 of 2011). Each event will be held in conjunction with the host organization.

The first seminar will be co-hosted with Rep. Aaron Kaufer (R-Luzerne) and held on Thursday, March 31, at the Back Mountain Regional E.M.A. Building, 3593 State Route 118, in Lehman Township from 6-8 p.m. Luzerne County District Attorney Stefanie Salavantis and Luzerne County Sheriff Brian Szumski will be the guest speakers.

Boback will offer a concealed carry seminar on Thursday, April 7, from 6-8 p.m. at the Dalton Fire Company, 109 S. Turnpike Road, Dalton. This is the first seminar to be offered in Boback’s portion of Lackawanna County following the legislative reapportionment in 2014, and the guest speakers will be Lackawanna County District Attorney Shane Scanlon and Lackawanna County Sheriff Mark McAndrew.

Another seminar will be offered on Thursday, April 14, at the Mill City Assembly of God Church in the Fellowship Hall, 167 Mercy Lane, Dalton, from 6-8 p.m. The guest speakers will be Wyoming County District Attorney Jeff Mitchell and Wyoming County Sheriff Ned Sherman.

The fourth concealed carry seminar will be held on Thursday, April 28, at the Mehoopany Township Municipal Building, 237 Schoolhouse Road, Mehoopany, from 6-8 p.m. Wyoming County District Attorney Mitchell and Wyoming County Sheriff Sherman will be there as well.

“I am pleased to be offering these important and informative opportunities to learn about Pennsylvania’s concealed carry laws. Our concealed carry seminars have consistently drawn a great deal of support from the community,” said Boback.

These events are free and open to residents of the 117th Legislative District. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and reservations are needed due to limited seating. Residents must be at least 21 years old to obtain a concealed carry permit in Pennsylvania. To register, please call Boback’s Tunkhannock office at 570-836-4777 or her Dallas office at 570-675-6000. Registration is also available on her website at RepBoback.com.
