Boback Announces Several Community Conservation Partnership Program Grants
HARRISBURG – Rep. Karen Boback (R-Lackawanna/Luzerne/Wyoming) today announced three grants awarded to projects in the 117th Legislative District totaling $369,000 through the Community Conservation Partnership Program (CCPP). The CCPP grants are administered by the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources (DCNR).

Grant recipients in the 117th Legislative District include:

  • Countryside Conservancy, $119,000, for payment toward the acquisition of approximately 82 acres along Hack Road in Benton Township, Lackawanna County.
  • Meshoppen Borough, $30,000, to prepare a master site development plan for the approximately 3-acre Meshoppen Borough Park in Wyoming County.
  • Endless Mountains Heritage Region Inc., $220,000, to develop a region-wide strategy for promoting agricultural heritage; coordinate programs and activities on the north branch of the Susquehanna River; implement the Endless Mountains Communications Strategy; and coordinate and fund heritage area initiatives.
“We have a wealth of natural resources and history in our region, and I am pleased to see many worthy programs receiving funds to preserve and protect these resources,” said Boback. “Many area residents, along with our incredibly important tourism industry, will benefit from the further development of these projects.”

The mission of the CCPP program is to provide financial and technical assistance to local governments, river and rail organizations, land trusts, and other nonprofits for planning, acquisition and development of park, recreation, conservation and greenway projects.
