Boback Legislation Requires Schools to Test Water for Lead Contamination
WHAT: Legislation that would require all schools in Pennsylvania to ensure their water is free of lead contamination will be discussed by state Rep. Karen Boback (R-Luzerne/Lackawanna/Wyoming), author of the bill and chairman of the House Children and Youth Committee.

WHO: Boback will be accompanied by many of the bill’s co-sponsors, including Rep. Austin Davis (D-Allegheny), who represents a school district which has some of the highest blood lead levels in Pennsylvania. Along with the legislators, representatives of PennEnvironment, a statewide, citizen-based environmental advocacy organization, will issue “Get the Lead Out,” its nationwide report on individual states’ efforts to provide clean drinking water to students and staffs.
