HARRISBURG – Fire and EMS companies in the 117th Legislative District will receive over $325,000 in grant funding, Rep. Karen Boback (R-Lackawanna/Luzerne/Wyoming) announced today.

The funding comes from an ongoing grant program created by the Legislature and administered by the Pennsylvania Emergency Management Agency and Office of the State Fire Commissioner. All funding comes from the proceeds from slot machine gaming, and not general fund tax revenue.

“This excellent program provides our first responders with much-needed financial resources,” said Boback. “I commend the efforts of our area fire and emergency service companies, and I appreciate all they do to serve our communities.”

Every emergency service organization that completes the application process and follows specified reporting guidelines receives funding. Projects eligible for funding include construction or renovation of a fire or ambulance company facility, purchase or repair of equipment, training, or reduction of existing debt.
